Koran Verses

In Jihad Al-Kuffar, Koran Verses are quoted on different occasions.
The English translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali was adopted. More specifically, the author referred to the Surahs posted on the website, still available in March 2015,

The Verses cited in Jihad Al-Kuffar are reported further down this page.

Most Verses were quoted because unscrupulous preachers often refer to some Surahs as if their teachings should be interpreted to the letter, with the result of inciting people to violence and causing concern across the world. Of course, the risk of misleading literal interpretations is not specific to a particular faith: in principle, the sacred texts of any religion are exposed to this danger. For instance, the most obvious meaning of the following excerpts from the Bible might cast doubts on the love and mercy of God:

He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, shall be utterly destroyed [Exodus 22:20]
Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand. And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the Lord God of their fathers. [2 Chronicles 13:15-18]

When Israel joined themselves to Baal-peor, the anger of the Lord flared up against Israel. The Lord said to Moses, "Arrest all the leaders of the people, and hang them up before the Lord in broad daylight, so that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel." So Moses said to the judges of Israel, "Each of you must execute those of his men who were joined to Baal-peor." Just then one of the Israelites came and brought to his brothers a Midianite woman in the plain view of Moses and of the whole community of the Israelites, while they were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting. When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he got up from among the assembly, took a javelin in his hand, and went after the Israelite man into the tent and thrust through the Israelite man and into the woman’s abdomen. So the plague was stopped from the Israelites. Those that died in the plague were 24,000. [Numbers 25:3-9]

QUOTATIONS FROM SURAHS 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 22, 47, 48, 66, 112

Surah 3 – The Family of 'Imran (AL-'IMRAN)
Verse 12

Say to those who reject Faith: "Soon will ye be vanquished and gathered together to Hell, an evil bed indeed (to lie on)!"

Surah 3 – The Family of 'Imran (AL-'IMRAN)
Verse 167

And the Hypocrites also. These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal.

Surah 3 – The Family of 'Imran (AL-'IMRAN)
Verse 169

Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord.

Surah 4 – Women (AL-NISAA)
Verse 76

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

Surah 4 – Women (AL-NISAA)
Verse 95

Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward.

Surah 5 – The Table Spread (AL-MAIDAH)
Verse 51

O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

Surah 8 – Spoils of War (AL-ANFAL)
Verse 39

And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.

Surah 8 – Spoils of War (AL-ANFAL)
Verse 74

Those who believe, and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith, in the cause of Allah as well as those who give (them) asylum and aid,- these are (all) in very truth the Believers: for them is the forgiveness of sins and a provision most generous.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 5

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 29

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verses 30-31

The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!
They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah. There is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 38

O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 73

O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge indeed.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 88

But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and it is they who will prosper.

Surah 9 – Repentance (AT-TAWBAH)
Verse 123

O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.

Surah 22 – The Pilgrimage (AL-HAJJ)
Verse 39

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged; and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid.

Surah 47 – Muhammad
Verses 4-11

Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost.
Soon will He guide them and improve their condition,
And admit them to the Garden which He has announced for them.
O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.
But those who reject (Allah), for them is destruction, and (Allah) will render their deeds astray (from their mark).
That is because they hate the Revelation of Allah. So He has made their deeds fruitless.
Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the End of those before them (who did evil)? Allah brough utter destruction on them, and similar (fates await) those who reject Allah.

That is because Allah is the Protector of those who believe, but those who reject Allah have no protector.

Surah 47 – Muhammad
Verse 35

Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.

Surah 48 – The Victory (AL-FATH)
Verses 2-3

That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour to thee; and guide thee on the Straight Way;
And that Allah may help thee with powerful help.

Surah 66 – Prohibition (AL-TAHRIM)
Verse 9

O Prophet! Strive hard against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge (indeed).

Surah 112 – Sincerity (AL-IKHLAS)
Verses 1-4

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

And there is none like unto Him.
